Certificate Ordering Process
At Peterborough Register Office we hold records of all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships that occurred in this district since records began in 1837.
Standard certificate fees
- Birth, death and marriage certificates, containing all the details entered in the register, are £12.50 each.
- Short birth certificates, containing only the child’s full name, date of birth and registration district are also £12.50 each. Please note that the short birth certificate does not contain any details of the parents, and has limited practical use. If you wish to order a short birth certificate, please specify this in the "additional information" field later in the process.
You can choose to have your order posted to you, or you can collect it from Peterborough Register Office.
Please note that certificates will be sent to you by second class post, or will be ready for collection, 10 working days after ordering.
Express service fees
We offer an express certificate service where, for an additional £26, the certificate will be ready as follows:

If the application is for a death certificate connected to a recent inquest, please do not order your certificate until the Coroner has informed you that the inquest has been completed.
